We need £1,180,000 for Chelsea Children's Hospital delivering outstanding comfort and thoughtful support for our younger patients Chelsea and Westminster Hospital treats 85,000 children a year and is the lead provider of specialist paediatric care for North West London. More than 90% of all complex paediatric surgery cases (i.e. surgery on the under 2s) for the area are handled at the hospital and pioneering innovations in minimally invasive surgery have been developed here. We are developing a new Chelsea Children’s Hospital to deliver outstanding levels of care, comfort and support for patients, families and carers. Phase I of the hospital is now open and features: - Four new children’s operating theatres – the first of their kind in the UK;
- A 12-bed children’s High Dependency Unit, and a sensory room
- A state-of-the-art simulation unit to train paediatric surgeons from all over the UK
- Two treatment rooms and five examination rooms
- Interactive design features and visual arts to stimulate the imagination, provide distraction from treatment and humanise the environment
We are seeking to raise the remaining £287,000 to fund: - Children's Outpatients' enhancements (sensory play, design features etc)
- Chill Out area for teenagers complete with games, music and social media
- Elephant info kiosks
- Parental accommodation
- A juice bar/café
